What does Defender have in common with Microsoft, Space X, Chipotle, Pfizer-BioNTech, Nike, Sony and Ben & Jerry’s? We have all won the prestigious Most Innovative Companies award from Fast Company. Each year, Fast Company looks for the most innovative organizations across all industries, globally. The companies on this list are transforming the world with unexpected solutions to difficult problems.
It all started when Defender founder, Dr Jason R. Hanft realized his patients weren’t healing fast enough. Dr Hanft knew there had to be a better way. Working with former Nike designer, Michael DiTullo, and a team of dedicated researchers and engineers, it took more than seven years to solve the problem of creating the right environment for foot wounds to heal quickly and reliably. In addition to the functional parameters they added the goals that the Foot Defender had to be easy to use and aesthetically looked more like a sneaker so it blended in with daily use. It wasn’t easy, the team had to take creative risks and do things differently, but the result is something that works and looks better than any of its competitors.
At Defender we don’t do this for the awards, we do this to help people, to save limbs and to save lives, but it sure is nice to be recognized by one of the world's leading authorities on innovation. Defender is proud to be on the Fast Company’s 2023 list of the most innovative companies in the world.
